Items Needed by School Children in Zimbabwe

Fall/Winter 2010-2011- We are collecting donations for our annual container shipment to Zimbabwe. Please see the list below for ideas about items we need.

In general, it is best to raise funds that can be used for purchases in Zimbabwe, however, if you live in the Bay Area and are interested in heading a school materials drive, or in contributing new or gently used goods, here is a broad of list of items we need.

      Backpacks containing new pencils, pens, crayons, markers,           paper, ruler, glue, tape, etc. School supplies (pens, pencils, crayons, notebooks, rulers, glue, scissors, etc.)


Paper - both white and colored. Construction paper is very much in demand.


Sports equipment, particularly soccer gear (NO BASEBALL)


Preschool and young reader books (English is the official language)


Toys / games / puzzles (in a secured bag or box) / playing cards

Blankets, sheets and towels


Computers (working, late-model computers w/CD-ROM drives that are a complete set including CPU, monitor, keyboard and mouse.)


Preschool furniture (chairs)


Educational CD-ROMs


Kitchen supplies (pots, pans, utensils, etc.)


Resource books and posters (atlases, dictionaries, maps, etc.


Educational posters (anatomy, biology, etc.)


Sewing machines


Sewing supplies (needles, yarn, thread, etc.) and fabric for sewing


Scientific calculators


New or good condition second-hand clothes and shoes for young children


New socks and underwear for all ages of children
